About the Climate Change Directorate
The Climate Change Directorate develops policy for mitigation and adaptation and leads the delivery of Nova Scotia's Climate Change Action Plan. Our work includes assessing greenhouse gas reduction opportuntiies and helping to develop programs to reduce emissions and prepare for climate change. We set emission targets, reduction timelines, and regulations for large point-source emitters.
We support increased public awareness and understanding about climate change, the science behind it, its impacts, and what we can do to help — that's what this site is all about.
We also support the government's core priorities to:
- Make health care better for you and your family by preparing for and managing the health implications of climate change
- Create jobs and grow the economy by addressing economic challenges and opportunities that result from a changing climate and the transition to a low-carbon economy
- Get back to balance and ensure government lives within its means by advising on cost-effective adaptation and mitigation strategies.
